PrepYourLesson is an online platform that allows private language tutors to exchange teaching materials and resources. We aim to create the largest library of high-quality teaching resources to make lesson preparation for private tutors easier and help them focus on what is really important - connecting with their students.

Registering with PrepYourLesson, browsing materials, uploading materials and putting them up for sale, as well as participating in community discussions is completely free. You are only charged when you decide to purchase paid materials or successfully sell your materials, in which case we charge you a small commission fee.

Tutors are welcome to add any materials they find valuable for the community and that they own the copyright to. This includes lesson slides and guides, exercises and worksheets, lesson plans, presentations, activities, homeworks and solutions, tests and assessments, and more.

There are three ways you can access your purchased materials. First, we send you an email with the link to your products once the transaction is complete. Second, you can find all your purchases in your PrepYourLesson user panel in the My Materials > My Purchases section. Finally, you can download them directly from the product pages.

You can leave a review on the page of that product after you purchased it.

On the product page go to the “Questions & Answers” section and click the “Ask a question” button. Once your question is answered you’ll receive an email from the PrepYourLesson team.

If you think that a particular resource violates your right or is offensive, incorrect, or low-quality please go to the “Report” section on the bottom of the product page and click the “Report this resource” link.

We do not normally issue refunds for digital goods except in very specific cases:
  1. Product files are damaged and/or cannot be used as directed.
  2. Product was grossly misrepresented and/or severely violates quality standards.
  3. Your purchase was mistakenly duplicated.
The refunds are to be issued on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to request a refund please contact us at team@PrepYourLesson.com.

Yes, you can also make your materials free when you create a product.

Once you create an account with PrepYourLesson you can upload materials directly in the My Materials section on your profile. Read our blog post How to post materials on PrepYourLesson for more details.

You must be a copyright owner of the materials you are going to upload or have express permission from an owner to upload the files. PrepYourLesson accepts any formats, however we strongly encourage you to upload materials in formats that would allow other instructors to edit and reuse them in their teaching. You can upload guides, exercises and worksheets, lesson plans, slides and presentations, activities, homeworks and solutions, tests and assessments, and any other material types that may be valuable to fellow instructors in your field. Materials can be in any language.

We ask that all uploaded materials and created product listings adhere to our quality guidelines. This is extremely important in order to create a pleasant experience for your fellow tutors and ensure that your product gets the visibility (and reviews!) that it deserves.
All product listings MUST:
  1. Have a clear and descriptive title, subtitle, and description.
  2. Contain at least one preview file to provide an example of the final product.
  3. Be properly categorized in context of the level, focus area, resource type, and audience.
  4. Product image is optional but encouraged.
Furthermore, all product files MUST:
  1. Fit the description provided.
  2. Be easily readable - no handwritten notes are allowed.
  3. Be self-contained - the final user should be able to use the product for the purpose stated in its description without the need to purchase or download additional materials.

Yes! We recognize that language tutors are all across the world and we built PrepYourLesson to specifically support them. However, you should make sure that you will be able to receive your payouts via our payout service Payoneer. See the list of the Payoneer supported countries here. If your country is not supported but you want to join please let us know via our contact form. Please note that we do not work with Russia.

Absolutely. When you upload materials to our platform you retain all the rights to your content. You simply grant us a license to host your materials and make it available to our users.

We take these matters very seriously and fully comply with the DMCA. If you suspect that someone else uploaded your own work please submit a Takedown Notice. If you are a registered user you can also report materials using the ‘Report’ button. We might ask you for proof that the materials are truly yours and if they are they will be removed from the site as soon as possible. The user who uploaded them will be blocked from using PrepYourLesson.

Yes, you can delete your uploaded materials anytime in the My Materials section in your profile. Just click the “delete” button to the right of your materials to delete them.

As soon as your seller balance is larger than $20 you can request a payout to your Payoneer account. To do so, please go to your account section Earnings and click the Request payout button. We will initiate a Payoneer payout in your preferred currency (USD or EUR) to your payout email. Unless you changed your payout email in your account settings, your login email will serve as your payout email by default. If your email is not associated with your Payoneer account yet, Payoneer will send you instructions on how to set up an account, connect your bank account, and withdraw your money.
You can find more detail in our blog post How do seller payouts work at PrepYourLesson?. Also, see Important Update: New Payment System for PrepYourLesson Sellers.

It usually takes up to 5 business days to process your payout request and send the money to your Payoneer account.

You can edit or change your payment method on the Account Settings page, in the Payments section.

PrepYourLesson does not process your payment information directly. Your credit card information is processed by Stripe, whereas your bank account information for payouts is managed by Wise. Both Stripe and Wise are established payment processors with the highest degree of security.

If you wish to refund a buyer please contact us at team@PrepYourLesson.com and we will be able to fulfill your request.

Yes, PrepYourLesson charges a transaction fee of $0.35 and a commission fee of 10% per order. For example, if you sell three products totalling $10 you will pay $0.35 in transaction fees and $1 in commission fees. Your payout in this case will be $8.65.

Yes, you can access your sales statistics, earnings report, and transactions on the My Earnings page.

We do not modify user reviews unless they are in direct conflict with our community guidelines and Terms of Service. If you think the buyer review is offensive, abusive, discriminatory, or reveals private information, please contact us at team@PrepYourLesson.com.

To sell a bundle of materials you can create a new product as usual and describe it as a bundle, while adding all relevant product files to the Product files field. You can describe the bundle in description and link to the bundle components by adding relevant materials in the Related products field when creating a product.

PrepYourLesson allows users to pay for products and receive payouts in their preferred currencies. However, we record all transactions in USD for the purposes of record-keeping and that’s why you will see all amounts in USD when setting prices or reviewing your earnings data. We use current official exchange rates from Wise for conversion. We may occasionally round the converted price to the nearest digit to prevent daily fluctuations of the prices and ensure that the converted price looks neat. For example, a price of $1 could be converted to 36.92 UAH and rounded up to 40 UAH.

According to the US Copyright Office, copyright is a form of intellectual property law that protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. Copyright grants the author of a work exclusive rights to copying, distributing, preparing derivative works based on a work and performing or displaying the work publicly. It ensures that authors are the sole benefactors of their work.

Generally speaking, copyrights are held by the creator of the material. However, there are a couple of exceptions including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Employers who own the rights to employee work
  • Fair Use content
  • Public Domain content

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a United States copyright law that addresses the protection of digital copyrighted materials.
The DMCA has five sections. Section 2 (Title II) has the most immediate impact on the PrepYourLesson community. An OSP is defined as “an entity offering the transmission, routing, or providing of connections for digital online communications, between or among points specified by a user, of material of the user’s choosing, without modification to the content of the material as sent or received”.
