Creating and sharing materials with Miro boards – everything you need to know

Are you a tutor with great ideas for lessons but don’t enjoy the arduous process of creating materials? Let me guess, sometimes it’s just easier to pop everything into a word document or use materials you’ve found online as quick lesson preparation. After all, not all of us have the time and patience to sit down and think about the design and structure of our teaching materials before lessons.

If only there was some sort of tool that helped you convert your lesson ideas into fun and interactive visual presentations… Well, if those are your thoughts, I have a surprise for you — there is! Introducing Miro boards, a solution that might just prompt you to give creating your own materials a second thought.

What are Miro boards?

Miro is a whiteboarding platform that enables you to take your ideas and add some spice to them through creating tables, graphs, spiderwebs, and other visual diagrams. Miro boards are great for language teaching, allowing you to easily create your own resources covering areas such as vocabulary lists and grammar explanations. Anything from topic-area lists in bullet points to fun vocabulary games can be created with Miro.

If you’ve been using google docs to teach grammar up until now, you might consider reconsidering. It’s like Quizlet, ppt, and Xmind combined – isn’t that great? Miro boards provide you with all the tools to make teaching a language all the more dynamic and fun for your students. Don’t take it from me, try them out for yourself.

Why use Miro boards?

With Miro boards, you’ll not only have the ability to create amazing materials and have your student interact with them real-time, but you’ll also be able to share them easily with other tutors.

How do I share my Miro board with other tutors?

There are two simple ways that you can sell your Miro boards on PrepYourLesson.

  1. You can save your board as a file and then upload the file to your account. The main limitation of this method is that other tutors will not be able to modify the boards to meet their needs.
  2. The second option is to grant access to your boards by providing tutors with a link. The board will be protected by a password that buyers can retain after purchase of the board.

Some tutors in the PrepYourLesson community are already using Miro boards to add some glitter to their lessons. Check out tutor Hiisonya’s Miro board materials on our site. Hiisonya has used Miro boards to create a wide range of materials for her young english learners – from fun warmup activities to whole exercise books. No, we are not affiliated with Miro in any way (in case you were wondering), but we are dedicated to making tutors’ lives easier and more convenient. We believe that Miro offers a great solution to material creation and sharing and we urge you to give it a try. Furthermore, we’d love to hear about your experience using Miro boards so that we can refine our suggestions for tutors. Write to us team@prepyourlesson.com and tell us all about it!
